Nicole Ari Parker (born Nicole Ari Parker) is an American actress that works in television, film and the theatre. The most famous of her roles is Teri Joe the fiery lawyer from The Showtime series Soul Food. She is now known by her maiden name of Nikki Kodjoe. She was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland she showed an aptitude for acting in her the age of five and was awarded the Best Actress award at a Maryland high school contest. After working in theater and 'The Washington Ballet Company she graduated with a degree in acting from 'New York University. Contractor who was born in Mumbai and was a resident of Nigeria over seven years experienced a variety of trips and experiences in the world of culture at an early age. When she was seven to nine, the young lady went to boarding school in London. Her family then relocated to Toronto where she lived for most of her childhood. After graduating high school, Contractor received a scholarship from the University of Toronto to pursue an undergraduate degree in sociology and psychology. Additionally, she earned a master's degree in Theater. Following a year at University, Contractor went to an open audition for the show Pericles in the highly regarded famous, world-class Stratford Shakespeare Festival [Ontario, Canada and got the leading role. The year 2002 was a great one for her. Canadian critics praised her performance in 92 performances of the play. Contractor accepted the invitation to attend Stratford's Conservatory program. The Conservatory has only 8 men as well as four females get accepted to a course of 20 weeks in classical theater. The actor's involvement in the upcoming play-season was confirmed and she got the part of Hermia in A Midsummer Night's Dream.
